The Chicago Transit Authority's Rail Car Servicer Apprentice program is a partnership that began in November 2007 between the Chicago Transit Authority and the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services. Since that time, the CTA has employed nearly 500 apprentices.

As part of the initiative, the CTA works with nine social service agencies, like the Cara Program and the Haymarket Center, to identify CSA candidates, including sheltered women who've suffered domestic abuse, ex-offenders who've been convicted of non-violent crime, and individuals recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, among others.

Learn more about the initiative as apprentices Brandell Kemp and Anthony Gaeti, and former apprentice Leo Forbish, share their experiences and thoughts about the program.
