@5FishBoy5 No lasersailor's right, when you pull vang on the draft of your sail moves lower and opens the leech near the head, which makes air spill out of the top of your sail, and de-powers it.

@lasersailor190464 wrong, on a reach, more vang = straighter leach profile = more power and a little trickier handling in high winds. In those conditions you want less vang for more twist in the sail to keep power lower. So, less vang= flat and fast; more = harder to keep flat and more dragging the boom through waves

ok irish sailor, 20 knots is still a "breeze", and inland is nothing like coastal, but the freshwater seas of north america ( the great lakes) would still surprise you.

dude, some of our kids(i'm one of them :-) are some very good sailers. We screw around alot when not sailing, but when we are, we do everything a sailer does, even swearing!
