  • Its so unfair I never had the opportunity to join an orchestra because my school did not have a music program. I am very jealous of the music majors in my school that are in the orchestra. I am a jazz guitar music major but my dream is to play and some day conduct a symphony orchestra.

  • @alalange It's not impossible for you in your future! I never played with our orchestra in high school, but when I got to college I was able to. I learned a little bit at a time and then was lucky enough to be offered the job at a high school with a great orchestra. I am a "band guy" by trade, but my experience in my previous position and my desire to learn about strings was crucial to getting this job. Work hard toward the goal!!!

  • This was good. But wow the whole set up of the instruments is like wayy different than what I'm used to. which orchestra groupe played this? Cause I'm in my top freshmen group and we're playing this.

  • @SMRockerChick95 Thanks for the comment! Yes, this is a different set up than most high schools use, but its one I prefer and orchestras used to be set up like this. I like to have the two violin sections opposite of each other for an antiphonal sound, but also because the best composers will double the melody in the first violins with the violas, which is why I like them next to each other. Cellos inthe middle to emit the bass sound to the rest of the ensemble. Thanks for the comment! :)

  • @SMRockerChick95 Oh...also, this is our 9-12 orchestra. All freshmen must be in the group before auditioning into the upper level Chamber Symphony, which is a class of only 30.

  • @WiWarhawk

yeah I planed to take beginning strings this coming semester at my shcool but I am to busy with my jazz studies I won't have to time to practice both guitar and viola or violin. I still need a lot to catch up in jazz because most of the players have been playing jazz from high school and I just started. But im not giving up I know some day I will pick up viola or violin.

  • our middle school orchestra is playing this song... and i think we sound better

  • Thank You All - Very Nice and Well Done,

    Bobby

  • Ahh interesting, this set up does seem to make more sense, cause with 1st and 2nds sitting next to each other sometimes you can't hear the 2nds.. Hope my group can play it as well as this(:
