And here's what Steve Jobs had to say about his plan to catch the bad iPhone applications "We try to strike a really good path here. On one side you've got a closed device like the iPod which always works... and on the other side, you've got a Windows PC where people spent a lot of time everyday getting to where it's usable. And we want to take the best of both: the reliability and the dependability of the iPod and the ability to run 3rd party apps from the PC world, without the malicious applications. Apple will rely on the community to catch bad apps "The way we're going to do that is that the developers have to register with us. For that $99 that they paid to join the programme, they actually get an electronic certificate and that tells us who they are. So if they write a malicious app we can track them down, we can tell their parents... The other thing that we can do, since the distribution of their application is going to be through the App Store, if we are alerted of a malicious app that we didn't catch, we'll turn off the spigot so no more people can donwload"

  • do not get an iphone its harmful and it ruins your brain

  • greed, they have to provide security asap or no one will buy this crap, someone else will offer a safer phone and apple is out of the picture

  • @rffshvj they are really not more expensive, do some research, take the Spec of a Mac Book Pro and then look at any big PC retailer like HP or DELL and I guarantee you get a highr spec at a lower cost. Dell Studio 15", 2Ghz Dual Core, 4GB RAM, 290 GB Hardrive, ATi Radeon HD 4570 was £508. Basic MacBook starts at £999, has only 2GB of memory, slightly faster 2.4GHz dual core, NVIDEO Geforce 320M, a smaller 13.3" screen, and a smaller 250Gb HDD. Where did all the money go?

  • @Lhn7 mac os get mutch less viruses bacause not so many people us it . its same with linux and other os that not somany people use ither. Most viruses ar built to windows simply because it's more people to harvest data from.

But we ar talking iphone here and theres a stupid amouth of people that use that so, they could have a real problem there if they did not care witch they do and thats ofcorse good.

Theres always a way around but this will stop the most of it i guess.

  • Good job Apple, This was 2 years ago. Where's the security?

  • hahaha...tell their parents

  • macs are also over rated over priced and you cant upgrade them you have to use mac hardware or just buy a new mac thats over priced or just get a regular laptop put windows 7 on it and a anti virus and your problems are solved cheaper better upgradeable and can upgrade hardware for lots cheaper................

  • @Lhn7 They don't. It's built on a different foundation than Windows. However, The antivirus you see for Macs on the market is to protect Windows users from receiving viruses from Macs because viruses don't effect Mac but it's kinda like the virus is at a train station when it comes to a Mac, Its just waiting on the right train to get to a PC.

  • i was told apple didn't get viruses???

  • what Steve Jobs meant to say but didnt is:

"We don't want 3rd party developers to compete with our own applications like the browser and how we play music and so on. This is why we don't have FLASH on the iphone and won't let Firefox and Opera compete with our Safari. Furthermore, we'll let developers sell 99 cent apps that users cant demo so if the app sucks too bad"
