Starring: Matt Dillon, Paul Walker, Idris Elba, Jay Hernandez, Tip T.I. Harris, Michael Ealy, Chris Brown, and Hayden Christensen

Summary:"Takers" revolves around a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case.

Final Grade: 2/5 stars

Analysis: When watching the trailer, one may think a movie based around a bank job would be an action-packed thrill ride, guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat however the movie "Takers" featuring what looked like an all star cast failed to reach this standard.

The movie was often confusing due to the camera movie in 50 million directions at once and doing random close up to give a more dramatic effect to the characters but most of the actor's performances were not notable so it really didn't matter anyway. The only actors who made this movie worth watching was T.I., who brought life to the screen with his charm and charisma as the deal maker with a dark side, and Idris Elba, who brought fear, concern, sincerity, and love to his character when dealing with his sister but the worst of the worst was Chris Brown. His lines were dry and it was extremely hard to watch him without fighting the urge to throw my popcorn at the screen and even though he did have a pretty long chase scene, it could never over power the fact that he can't act.

Not only was the majority of the acting un-entertaining, the characters did not develop or change and if there is not character development then how is the audience suppose connect with these characters because they are too "fancy" for the average to relate to.

takers seemed like a great movie and I really wanted it to be but unfortunately we don't always get what we want and that was the case with this movie.

  • sweetheart, id "take" u, but clearly i can barely hear u or understand u cuz u make no sense. the movie was dope. it's a guy flick with "eye candy" for girlie-girls like you. if you liked Heat, you'd have liked Takers. U prolly never heard of Heat though "kanye shrug"....

P.S. There was character development, the rest is left in the air because of the IMPENDING PREQUEL!!!!!! SMH.....

  • @leira1

To begin with I'd rather you not call me sweetheart, it's kind of creepy, thanks, but I don't see how I didn't make sense to you if you said you couldn't hear me.Secondly, I'm not a "girly girl" just because I didn't like this movie, I actually enjoy action films but the shaky camera kind of ruined that for me. Excuse my typo during the Analysis because in the video I did say that there was a little character development but i felt like it needed to be brought to all characters.
