@UAL2958 havent you seen a 747 land most pilots in 747 engage the reverse when the MAIN gear touches down

240p we meet again

Skip to 2:10 and you will know where to go to get some food and a souvenier.
I don't know why people like to use the thrust reverser but not the airbrakes.

@wewillrockyou1986 You are suppose to set auto brakes (Based on length and environmental conditions), (Which I did.) On main gear touchdown (Some wait til nose touches down, but SOP is main gear since previous runway overrun incidents in the past) Speed brakes if armed as they should be, will deploy, and the pilot engages the reversers. Between 60-70kts, the pilot will disengage the reversers, and at 60kts use manual braking.

You turned on the reverser way to early. Protocol says you shouldn't turn them on until all the wheels are on the ground. If you were to do this in real life it would be very difficult to keep the nose from slamming on the ground. You have to remember, Air break armed, so it turns on first, then once all wheels are on the ground - reverser.

@UAL2958 No reversers are engaged at main gear touchdown, check real 744 landings both here and flightlevel350 . com. This is SOP on Heavies especially after the A340-600 crash in Canada that ran off the runway.

@tf51d its the air france a340-300 not a340-600 that overran "crashed" on toronto.
