One of the most often-covered songs written in the 1960s, "Early Morning Rain" was the first widely known composition of the now-legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, a national treasure of his native land, now in his seventieth year. This timeless and haunting number is from The Chilly Winds' Saturday set at the 2007 Mountain Music Festival in Colorado, the first of several videos soon to be released by the group from the festival's silver anniversary shows. Dave Batti provides his usual outstanding bass accompaniment.

A classic of folk, and covered by everybody, I still do this one and chilly winds from time to time, these guys are wonderful, they lose no ground with the Kingstons or Peter, Paul and Mary with their harmonies, keep at it boys, love your sound

Love it! Nice vocal arrangement.
I do this tune on bass with Bruce Barley. I was never really a big Gordon Lightfoot fan growing up, but this song is an exceptionally heart-felt and memorable one.
