Thanks! That was an awesome thunderstorm! The ship was struck by lightning about 15 minutes after I took that video.

@mvsgeek this is something I've never thought about asking before. Do ships at sea have lightning rods to redirect a lightning strike, or do they just get hit and risk catching fire?

@erasetoimprove I believe the ship has a lightning prottection system. One of the passengers that was nearby when the ship got struck said he worked for a company that made such systems. I believe it is done the same way that skyscrapers are protected.
