Rather than play short outtakes from the soundtrack, the concept behind this series is to play lengthier samples with added visuals to provide some context. The visuals are either directly from in-game recordings and cutscenes, or from promotional material such as trailers (including live-action trailers). Occasionally, the visuals are from a related game, such a sequel or prequel. By editing the visuals to coincide with the musical cues, I hope it's also more entertaining to watch.

It's also worth noting that I, admittedly, am biased towards more modern soundtracks and, old-school themes, although certainly classic and great for their time, will have a harder time finding their way on to this series. There are plenty of lists that include classic gaming themes so think of this as a breath of fresh air! And again, this list is ongoing to feel free to recommend any soundtrack. I do check them out.

  • aww, i feel kinda bad for the chubby guy at the beggining, he was just having a good time dancing, he don't get out much, and then he got a liposuction on the neck!...

  • @alex291212 He should have known not to fuck with Ezio's Family :)

  • This is such a stellar series of videos. You let the graphics and the music speak for themselves. The pieces and visuals you have chosen truly show just how excellent an artistic medium video games are. They not only treat the medium with dignity, but these videos make the games accessible even to non-gamers. I can think of no better way to show the non-gaming world that there is something to the Games As Art argument.

  • @photographerleia Thanks! Comments like these keep me going mate. And of course games are art, some people just don't know it yet.

  • @MegaDarkKnight07 Yeah, lovely composition. 1:50 is a fantastic moment where this tune works much better than the original trailer soundtrack.

  • the video for the assassin's creed is in perfect synchronization with the music.
