  • i'm taking lessons at the moment and am struggling with stopping normally. i'm confused to whether you put the clutch down first then break to stop or do i use them both together or brake first then dip the clutch.

  • You should put the clutch down just before you stop when you get to a walking speed. So if your going faster than walking speed then you would use the brake first and if your going very slow you would use the clutch first for example when doing a turn in the road.

  • As clong as you dont hold it too long say 30 sec or more your going to wear the clutch more if you put the hand brake on and have the clutch fighting the handbrake. I keep my cars for 150,000 mile and have never replaced a clutch before the car.

  • i just had my first test today i was learning the biteing point i got controle of it but you explain it in great detail wish u was learning me thanks for the video

  • @megan1r so will some petrol cars, bigger than engine the capable the car can slowly move.

  • I am glad you mentioned that it's good not to use the clutch too much as it will burn it out; a lot of people don't seem to realise this and think they can sit riding the clutch on a hill at traffic lights for as long as they want...

  • I think you mean all automatics will roll forward when in gear. Fuel type doesn't fundamentally affect how the transmission works.

  • shame my driving or neglected to mention that. got a right bollocking for storming over a mini roundabout when i thought i was coasting, always thought there was something wrong with the car until now!

  • you just apply the brake

  • omg well done. how did u do
