Anne Weills and Dennis Cunningham, Civil Rights Attorneys, discuss John Yoo's role in the legalization of torture by the Bush administration via his "torture memo's", as well as public awareness, response and activism.
The Bush regime's decision to legalize torture was justified by John Yoo's legal memo's. Professor Yoo defends the legal basis for the use of torture, while international treaties signed by the U.S. specifically ban it's use under any and all circumstances.
Currently, efforts are underway demanding the dismissal of John Yoo from his tenured faculty position at University of California, Berkeley, and that he be disbarred and put on trial for war crimes.
