This song is about my mother who passed away in 1987 and my husband who is at my side since 1985. One day of her last summer he just put her into his tiny car and he brought us to the sea. This beautiful summer day still belongs to my best memories.
"Zum Meer" (To the Sea)
Originalsong written by Anette on 16th of October 2010
Instruments used:
Guitarlele by Yamaha
Harp and bowed psaltery (built by my father)
To the sea
She sat there smoking and drinking black tea
and she did not see the twinkeling red above the lake
She sighed and she said, even if it would be beautiful here,
Only once again in her life she wanted
to stand at the beach of the Baltics,
to hear the waves and see the seagulls.
You lied at my side, and you were only listening.
But the very next morning you started a trip with us.
And you headed your „Trabant" (East German car model)
northbound over the land.
Along meadows with horses and sheep,
along villages and forsts and lakes,
the grain was ripe already and it billowed in the wind,
chicories waved to us, cerulean beautiful.
After hours lucky we arrived the sea.
Suddenly she ran off, nothing cold hold her.
Stood barefoot in the water in the singing wind
and hopped in the rhythm of the waves...
and she looked for seashells at the beach.
Peacefully you fell asleep in the sand.
Through my lashes I beholded the picture
and I wished the time could stand still.
The screaming seagulls, the drying seaweed
never I wanted to forget -- all my life.
And once again we are walking hand in hand,
along the beach of Koserow, through the wet sand,
She cannot be with us for a long time now.
But back then when it was still possible- you brought her to the sea.

Klasse.
Liebe Grüße
Michael
