As a person who's played both, I can tell you that both are surprisingly good. There is enough in both to satisfy even the most casual gamers. Still, even though they're both NBA games, they are very different. If you are in to well done Dynasty modes, and sports games with plenty of features, then ofcourse, NBA Live 08 is for you. That has always been Ea's specialty. However you would also have to not care about good gameplay. Live is perfect until you get to the court, but 2K remains the champ at providing a fun realistic on-court experience. 2K8 is not perfect, and we all know how hard it is for game developers to effectively recreate an NBA experience, but I think 2k is the closest to it.

i have played both and i gotta say nba2k8 is far better it actual plays like a real game,i lost alot of respect for ea sports with nba live 07 that was a pathetic release nba live 08 is alright but does nt compare to nba2k8

i dont like how in 2K you can't get by players. Its okay if you have Kobe and can't get by Bowen, or Lebron, etc. But when I have Kobe and a big man is able to stay infront of me. thats fucked. The cross overs for 2k need major improvement. Also, it's fcked up when players drive and throw up these one hand back to the basket shots and they go in.
