Canon T2i in 7x magnification (standard definition) Movie Mode
CORRECTION: Initially i noted that the T2i's crop movie mode was 6x but should be 7x. focal lengths have been updated below.

TWO setups we're used...
1) Canon 300mm 2.8 + 1.4+ (T2i @ 7x) = 2940mm
2) Canon 300mm 2.8 + 2x + 1.4x + (T2i @ 7x) = 5880mm

f22-f36 - 1/60th / Between 100-800 ISO

  • it is what we call in astrophotography as "the seeing factor", due to the earth atmospheric turbulence. that is why those hubble pics are far sharper without those 'seeing' effect.

where and when were this taken? astrophotography would be best taken right after the rain settles on a very high mountain top.

  • @azmisj this video was shot in June this past summer. it was a clear night with virtually no wind but was warm and like you say there is still a lot of atmospheric turbulence. ive never shot anything like this and i probably never will again. was just curious as to how close i could get with mere photography gear.

  • 1344mm

  • @supercalifrachidisi 1344mm would be the magnification of the 300mm + 2x + 1.4x attached. the T2i shooting in crop mode of 640x480 gets you about 7x movie crop (according to canon specs). so if you take 300m+2x+1.4x u get 840mm...then...times that by 7x & u get 5880. here is where im not sure though...r u supposed to also times that number by 1.6 which is the crop of the Canon sensor getting then 9408mm? all i know it way more than 1344mm.

  • where do i get such a giant fucking lens?!?

  • @janzgrosseskino the canon 300mm f2.8 isnt really a giant lens compared to the bigger canon lenses. its the canon 2x & 1.4x multipliers plus the very high magnification mode on the t2i that brings it to this extreme magnification.

  • @photoflix291 Shoot it in video crop mode and extract a still from that. You'll get pretty close with your current lens.
