  • this is the part where i usually say: okay we've got a prince who's crying for help like a child and three girls wrapped in 30 layers of silk who save him... how can anybody find this opera sexist???

  • listen to the text, that might give you an idea... (try english translations)

  • sorry, i was being sarcastic, i know that there are parts that are clearly sexist ;-)

  • that's okay, sorry as well :)

  • Thanks for uploading - it's great to get to watch this. It's definitely a Bergman film, and I really like the otherworldly feel that it has - it gives the impression that there are forces at work even beyond the understanding of Sarastro, which I've always wanted to see more of in other productions. Many of the tempi feel quite draggy to me, but that's probably because I'm used to the almost-too-fast John Eliot Gardiner recording.

  • Please, scordeteyla, can you upload the complete scene when Pamina sings her sad and beautiful aria? I love that part so much! Thank you in advance!!!!!

  • Fantastic^^

  • Awesomest stage dragon ever.

  • @Nonman642 They might be performing it at authentic baroque pitch, which would be a half-step lower than what you're probably used to. Type "concert pitch" into wikipedia... It's not for the singers' benefit, they're actually just trying to make it sound more like it would have in Mozart's time. (Except for the Swedish translation. :P)

  • Something puzzles me about this production; every single song's key is lowered by about one half-step! I would be surprised if the singer's couldn't go any higher/lower than this. It gives this wonderful production such negative acclaim, especially in Der Holle Rache...

  • 1:45 dreamboat alert, dreamboat alert!

  • =o It's in D major instead of Eb.. Great performance though :D

  • a mi también me gusta màs la version alemana, (la original es insuperable!), pero esta es linda también ...

me encanta la actriz que hace Pamina!!!
