@benNjed, that definitely works. But the sheeting in is very subtle - it's a pop-and-let-go kinda move. Watch me do it in my spock 540. Many pros do it the same way.
The way Andy explained it to me was that this is similar to a proper fast tack - pop the back hand, let go and switch position with the sail. Vulcan is essentially the same idea (switching positions with the sail), just in the air. You may catapult hard the first couple times you try (I did!), but it will be good after!

@benNjed, the key for me is sheeting in the sail on takeoff. This was the advice from Andy Brandt (of ABK boardsports) and it took me only 3 or 4 attempts to start sliding back consistently (I had been stuck at 90-110 degrees for a while before that). Sheet in as you pop the board, then let go immediately as the tail is clearing the water. This will get you rotating and will push the nose down, which will rotate you even more. Jumping forward (towards the mast) also helps a lot.
