This is nuts. I have Basset Hounds and they are all VERY vocal, This is not a sound a dog in distress would use. Also, his ears are erect, another sign that the dog is relaxed. My Bassets use that same howling when they are hearing other dogs in the neighborhood. It is a way of communication, not a sign of distress. And even if it WAS a sign of distress..so what? Don't we all get a little stressed now and then?! Lighten up.
