Dark Souls (Beginner's Guide) - Ring of Favor and Protection

This ring will boosts HP, stamina and equip load by 20% each, but breaks if it is removed. Utilizing this ring is also the only way to increase max stamina to above 160. With this method you can obtain the ring very early in the game, also note that after you defeat the Gargoyle boss Knight Lautrec moves to firelink shrine regardless to if you spoke to him or not.

*Important* Note that if this is your first playthrough of the game you may want hold off on equipping this ring until after you have defeated the Four Kings, as that fight requires you to use a special ring to enter the area. Since the four kings is much easier when you stack Poise, you may want to equip the Wolf Ring and Havel's Ring.

If you don't want to kill Knight Lautrec or waited to long and he left Firelink Shrine you can obtain the ring by trading the Xanthous Crown to Snuggly




Stacks with: Mask of the Mother, Tiny Being's Ring, Havel's Ring and Mask of the Father. Equipping Ring of Favor and Protection and the Mask of the Father changes equipment load to 1.38 x base equipment load. (+38%)




Equipping Ring of Favor and Protection and the Havel's Ring changes equipment load to 1.8 x base equipment load. (+80%) Equipping Ring of Favor and Protection, Havel's Ring and the Mask of the Father changes equipment load to 2.07 x base equipment load. (+107%)
