www.CGSIntakes.com This is a Dodge Ram 4.7L with a CGS Cold Air Intake System installed. As you can see and hear this performance Cat-Back Exhaust System is very quiet on the inside and outside. This system can gain up to 13hp to the rear wheels.

  • cold? Sucking in hot air from under the hood and they call it COLD air intake. Suckers!!

  • @jordanjcm We have done a ton of testing with Chrysler on these Dodge Ram trucks and they get so much cold air under the hood as soon as they are moving that it makes less HP with a heat shield because it still restrickes the amount of air. These CGS Intakes make Power and lots of it.

  • I dont get it? You have the air filter in the same spot the factory air filter box..But now you are exposing all that hot air to it..Why didnt you just connect the tube from the throttle body to the factory air box or at least add more tubing to bring the filter down to the passanger head lamp for the most colder air?

What size is the tubing on that anyway?

  • First of all, the tubing is 3" which is the same size as the throttle body. Second the reason the filter isn't in a box is because it makes 3.5 -5 more horsepower by not putting it in a box. Yes it dose suck hot air at idle, but as soon as the truck is moving it is getting more cold air than it would ever need.

  • The tb opening is 3.25". The factory accordion hose is 3.5" so right there you just restricted air flow. The 4.7 motor loves to breath. Plus your filter is sitting to far back to make the most of the cold air. Look at the mopar/aem intakes. The filter sits right behind the passanger headlamp to get the most air flow.

  • The tb is 3"id and our intake system is the exact size as the tb diameter on the in side. As for running a 3.5" or larger pipe sure you can but why the engine can only inhale so much so if you put a 10" pipe on their its not going to run any better.

  • @CGSPerformance that location is not cold air for an open filter element. For the best cold air on the 02-08 dodge rams for a open filter element intake is right behind the passenger headlight. Yours is far from it.

Even the engineers at DODGE know this. Thats why the stock intake has a snorkel elbow setup to catch the cooler air which you removed to install that one.

  • @senorbeaver1 ok senorbeaver as an army engineer and a shade tree mechanic k&n airfilters, and other parts, just plain suck. nothing you clean can be worth a damn. they say more airflow=more power while that is true how do they get more air flow? bigger holes in the filter. meaning more particulates get through. K&N is just a mainstream name. nothing more.

  • dont be cheap, get a k&n system. just the sound it makes is worth the dough. i have put on cheaper versions and am never as happy them. i'm not hating on yours just stating the facts.

  • @The1995nacci Check the CAI's on some Dodge Dakota forums.Research will pay off, $275 is alot of green!. I talked to some guy's at a car show about CAI's .They agreed that the mettalic CAI's looked better, but werent as effecent as the polyethelene cause they stored heat.I beleive behind the pass. headight IS the most EFFECIENT loc. Take note the filter location, esp. if its closer to the eng. This one is directly under the hood! Heat rises, theres flow, just not enough. Thats a big NO NO!

  • @Geraldtoo dude i'm wondering the same thing. I've been ebay shopping for a CAI too. and i know exactly what you're talking about because I'm considering buying one and i also saw the one for 38$ it looks very similar and for the same performance why spend more? I have an 02 4.7L and i want the CAI just to let it breathe better and get some more power from it.

  • The unit on your web site is listed at $275. There are some listed on E-bay two peice that are actually located closer to the (cold air), with a washable filter. $38 free S/H. Actually looks like it is better made, and looks more effiecent. Que. In your opinion, what makes this unit better than that simple design, or even K&N. Besides obvious fin. gain? Do you have real life figures?Dyno results?

  • do you have to mod the computer after doing this

  • @CGSPerformance I can second this. He should take a look at the grill on any Ram. It's gigantic...plenty of air flows under the hood.
