This works in photoshop too. If it looks like shit, just add a bunch of lens flares.
-
@nicolasgdn65 Thanks but does it have a specific name, do you know?
-
It's basically a camera lens and viewfinder that doesn't record anything. It's just used to frame a shot before they set up the cameras and roll film.
-
How can I watch JJ Abrams' films for free? Oh... just stare at the sun for about an hour or two.

@azzkik3r666 AAAHAHAHAHA
-
@mark84j But why make it so you can't see everything you would normally see in an environment? The lens flare makes it seem LESS realistic.
Even if it is just a cool thing, it should never take over the whole screen.

@AgentStark427 Again, I just believe he uses his skill with poor taste. And as for JJ, he did mention that the lens flare fetish he has while filming Trek was "just one of those things". As a director, you find something you think is cool, and you stick with it.
Also, the reason why he shines it directly at the camera is to create the flares themselves. You know?

@mark84j His dialogue directing is still crap but his visual filming is fantastic. I don't know what posses JJ to SHINE A LIGHT DIRECTLY AT THE CAMERA!!!
-
@mark84j That's cool... He hasn't exactly proven any of that in my opinion but whatevs yo.
People, dooon't even compare J.J. Abrams to Michael Bay. J.J. Abrams knows how to direct dialogue between two human beings. Michael Bay does not.
