In this series we interview John and Brooke McLay. John served for 14 years as an employee of the LDS Church Education System (CES). In this capacity he served as: a seminary teacher and principal, an institute teacher and director, a BYU Education Week speaker and an EFY Director. John also served as a member of a stake high counsel, and was serving in a bishopric during the months leading up to his decision to leave the LDS Church. John and Brooke resigned their membership of the LDS Church in August of 2011. This is their story.

  • The internet is bringing transparency to cults like the Mormons and probably the end to them. Nobody is going to want to join a cult when they know the whole deal before they join.

  • Zero substance. As the saying goes, they may leave, but they can't leave it alone.

  • @asporet Indeed.

  • Beautiful work, John. Both Johns!

What I LOVED about Mormonism was this highly developed level of compassion your words demonstrate--truely Christ-like and worthy of the LDS claim to being Christian.

  • I offer my sincere love and support to John and Brooke as I know it is a difficult time. I share some of the same experiences growing up as Brooke. My mother left me and my twin sister (oldest children) with my stepfather when she left the church. We were nearly 16. It was a terrible divorce and all the children were not allowed to see our mother. I had no parental support etc. I have not been a mormon for 20 years and there was no support then. So my love goes out to you and your family ♡

  • Endure to the end

  • umm umm uh uh um uh uh umm uh um uh uh um um uhhhh um uhh ummm

    these are not real words

  • These videos are all about control. There are no tough questions. Dehlin is pushing an agenda and will not let anything get out that doesn't conform to his agenda. There is no integrity in this propaganda.
