What is Christian Religion? Randall Niles looks at the difference between Christian Religion and a relationship with Jesus.

Here's a controversial statement for you Religion has serious issues! In fact, I believe organized religion has kept more people from God than anything in history.

Interestingly, it seems Jesus has issues with organized religion too, probably for the same reason. When he saw what the career religious people did to his Father's house, the Temple in Jerusalem, Jesus was truly angry. He took a bull whip out and showed what he thought of their religion!

Actually, a true relationship with God isn't about organized religion at all. It's not about hierarchical structures, ornate buildings, flamboyant preachers, or traditional rules and rituals. In fact, Christians don't have any special religious truth unavailable to Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, New Agers anyone humbly seeking God. Simply, it's what you do with Jesus, regardless of your religious affiliation. A religious label has nothing to do with ultimate Truth. Neither does church membership, good works, public service, charitable giving, mantras, creeds or codes. Straight up -- It's what you do with Jesus. He's either the Son of God who offers the only true hope for the world, or he's not. Case closed.

Allow me to get controversial again. Our eternal destiny has nothing to do with converting to the right religion. Rather, our salvation rests in knowing who we are as sinful humans and pursuing a reconciled relationship with God through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.

What do you think about this one?

A New Age-Hindu-Buddhist-rock star who's truly known Jesus for 50 minutes is closer to the Truth than a Sunday morning Christian who's passively engaged in the religious motions of church for fifty years.

  • @JonathanMcLatchie He is not being circular in his reasoning in this instance. 'Hypocrisy' would be more accurate.

  • the way of salvation is to understand that God became flesh, and didi something that we would never be able to do our selves,, others religions teach ,, be good to be saved,, not christianity

  • Exactly! Religion won't save you. Jesus will ....if you are willing to listen to Him.

And a rose by any other name is still a rose.

  • jesus is only a human not son of god...everyone know about it...if he is son of of god where is his grandfather...is it exist

  • God is FICTION.

  • I agree with you on the fact that you should go by what Jesus says but I don't agee with the fact that you say that Christians are being "close minded" beause some of them think that they have the only way to salvation because all religions are like that. All religions believe they have the only way to Jesus or the only way to salvation

  • AMEN!!

  • Hey, illburnbush - I'm afraid I have to point out that your comment is self-contradictory. By claiming that Randall's views are 'intolerant', you are yourself being 'intolerant' of Randall's views! Is this not a circular line of reason?

  • I like the approach of making it either an acceptance or not of Jesus' authority rather than a religion. He kept his disciples busy preaching about the kingdom of God moreso than teaching about himself.

  • I find it intolerant
