Isn't the effect of a rifled barrel for a shotgun desirable for point blank range?

Hunting? Why not a lighter, lower recoiling gun?

Honestly, the only use I can see for a rifled shotgun is if your hunting in africa and you get charged by a rhino.

The merriam-webster dictionary site has 2 different audio pronunciations for 'sabot'. I don't know if that's already been covered here, but thought i'd through it out. It's not letting me post a direct link, so you'll have to go look it up.
