Normal cold start of an air cooled Lister TS3 A in a narrowboat. It is a nice running 4-stroke 3 cylinder engine.

  • Actually, TS3 stands for Tilling-Stevens 3-cylinder engine. These engines were developed further by Rootes Group upon takeover and then developed for boats by Lister.

  • @crossleydd42

Thanks for your reaction. So I think there are more TS types Lister engines. Two stroke (so said bebajoro77) and 4-stroke Tilling-Stevens.

  • Yes, TS3 stands for two-stroke, 3 cylinder.

  • I am Sorry, this is definitily a n air cooled 4-stroke engine.

Just by listening to it, it is the 3 cylinder, air cooled, 4 stroke, vertical cylinder model.

  • @douro20 Annoyingly, there are four-stroke versions with the exact same name as the two-stroke OP.

  • Four-stroke? As I recall, Rootes-Lister TS3s are two-stroke opposed-piston engines.

  • That sound would make me sleep like a baby!
