This DVR was kind of cheap at 80 bucks. Ken found this thing at dealextreme dot com,Single Channel Mini DVR Audio Video Recorder with SD Card Slot, SKU 53835 - be sure to pick up the correct resolution as there they sell several. Its target is the security industry . Will work for getting the essence of my flights. For quality video I have a GoPro. I plan to go through my cabling to see if I can clean up some the noise.

Nice vid, do you know how the MiniDVR handles static? Does it drop out or bluescreen at all?

Do you know what happens if SD card runs out of space? Does it end recording, or does it have continuous recording feature(if run out of space some video is automatically removed).
I've been looking some cheap DVR with continous recording capability for car black-box project.

@burghoorn Still like it for basic downlink NTSC video capture. I use a GoPro for HD recording presentation video.

You can overwrite data on SD card or have it fill up and stop recording. I have programed mine to make a new file every 30 minutes. I use it as a black box recorder for trouble shooting and finding my plane if it goes down.

I believe you can choose either. Mine is set to over write, How much time do you need? A 4GB SD card is a lot of video! If you need me to start it up and check it for sure let me know and I'll look the next time I go flying and get back to you.
