Zack the zebra shows that zebras can be versatile. At 6 years old, he rides western, english or bareback. Here, he is jumping 2 foot 8 inches. He jumps, trail rides and lays down on command. As his training progresses, we learn more skills and continue the ones he already knows. Subscribe to keep up with not just Zack, but also Charlie the Zebra, Wilson the Water Buffalo and all the other critters! www.zebraguru.com

Zack Facts:

He is a Grants zebra, which is a variety of Plains zebra. There are a total of 3 species of zebra, with a number of varieties, or "Breeds"

Zack is 6 years old in the video, they have a similar lifespan as a horse

The jump is 2 foot, 8 inches tall

Zack is 12 hands, 2 inches tall at his withers (where his back and neck meet). A hand is 4 inches, and is the standard for measuring equines.

There are a number of regulations involved to own a zebra. USDA permits, as well as regulations on state, county and city levels.

Zebras are not mean, but they are wild animals and require special care and attention.

  • @4hoovesnstripes you are way to big to ride a 12.2hh!

  • @AbbieLovesCandy98 Have you ever seen adults ride Icelandic horses? What about Welsh ponies? Icelandics were bred for adults to ride and most of them are very small, about the same size of zack.

  • so so so crule zedbras arnt meant to be ridden!

  • @pillydoo *cruel, Zebras, and aren't* If you are going to attack someone, at least make sure you spell correctly, otherwise, it makes you look ignorant.

  • If you're saying it's cruel because zebras aren't meant to be ridden, remember that horses weren't meant to be ridden either, so unless you're against all riding in general, you can't use that as an argument.

  • The video made me smile in wonderment, you obviously have a very warm bond with Zack and anyone who looks under the surface will see this, so there is no cruelty whatsoever, any animal will usually respond to love, kindness and honesty, paying you back in dividends as your little man has done. Well done keep up the brilliant work and more videos please.

  • That's cute!! :) You are a great rider!! :D

  • So cute, just sad zebras dont get very big :(

  • look here people this lady isnt forcing him to jump. if a horse doesnt want to do something then it simply wont and unless you're blind hes nnot being very reluctant and do you actually have proof that they arent meant to be ridden becsue if you do id like to see it and like she said before, horses arnt really meant to be ridden either, and so you might want TO CHECK YOU FACTS, before you start accusing someone of animal cruelty

  • I think zebras are fine to ride. It's not much different from a horse. I mean c'mon peeps what's the difference? Horses were all wild once, zebras are wild (well not some apparently) It doesn't really matter. This is really cool!!!!

  • @ariellaAKA FINALLY!!! Someone with a brain!!! Thank you for posting this. I was beginning to fear that I was the only one with any sense. :)

  • @pillydoo HOW is it cruel??? You're an idiot. A zebra is nearly the same as a horse or a donkey. You might as well say its cruel to ride horses, or get donkeys & mules to pull carts. Moron.

  • i have always wanted to ride a zebra since racing stripes :L
