Lionfish have invaded coral reefs in Florida and the Caribbean. They are not natural. They were accidentally introduced in the 1980's around Miami from the Pacific Ocean. Now their numbers have skyrocketed. The problem? They eat the juveniles of coral reef fish and compete with the economically important snappers and groupers. The good news: They are great to eat! The solution? Pick up a speargun or grab a collecting net. Just watch out for their venomous spines.
