A track called Dawning of the Day from an unreleased album 'Sweet Music' by the Caravelles- Andrea Simpson and Lynne Hamilton around 1968-does anyone konw the songwriter?
I agree with you. A comprehensive anthology/complete collection of all of the songs by the Caravelles-both released and unreleased songs is way overdue. I am a big fan of the Caravelles. It's a pity their recordings have vanished almost into oblivion. They were always more to me than a "one hit wonder".
Awesome! truely great! Kinda reminds me of a bit of some songs by the U.S. duo Lily & Maria who released their sole album in 1968 and this fab cd was recently reissued by Sunbeam Records. Get the Lily & Maria cd-you won't be dissappointed. The Caravelles & Lily & Maria: 2 talented duos!
Beautiful! it's a crying shame that all of the recordings of the fabulous Caravelles (both released and unreleased) are not on cd. Someone here commented that this song reminded them of Donovan, Nick Drake & Simon & Garfunkel and I agree, being a fan of those amazing talents. There were a lot more to The Caravelles than being a "one hit wonder" and this song is very lovely by these 2 fab gals!
...oh wow i'm w/U guys = undiscovered (well until FunkMeiserF discovered 'em LOL!) talent from 40 years ago...woah! i was searching 4 a Christy McColl version of a song by the same name but stumbled on this instead; how intriguing...
what the hell? this is amazing, this is amazing, why didn't this explode! I've never heard of these before, it reminds me of Donovan meets Simon & Garfunkel, and also bits of Nick Drake ish tones. Sweet, very sweet.
Why was this track not a huge hit? A fabulous song recorded by two gorgeous girls with exceptional, distinct voices. The arrangement and production is first class.
When do we get to hear the rest of this LP? Isn't it time for a full RPM retrospective, complete with unreleased tracks? This is almost Vashti-like in its bucolic vibe.
Love the harmony. Sweet voices. Beautiful people. Reminder of more simple times. Thank you.
