Rising Tide - People's Blockade of Newcastle Harbour 2007

On the 3 November 2007 Rising Tide and local environmental groups in Newcastle Australia organised a people's blockade of Newcastle Harbour to protest against the coal trade and the lack of action on climate change.

It's funny how basically everyone in this video drives a car, how ironic is that. You'll protest a multi-billion dollar companys that arn't going to last forever but in the mean time. Creates jobs and strengthens our economy, but you'll all go out for a drive to the beach to protest because you don't like them mining for coal....

actually, clean renewable energy, such as wind farms, are cheaper to build, cheaper to run, and need just as many people to run them. this is not an employment issue, its a political thing.

The point is that we're powerless to create economy-wide change. You want a job? transport kills the planet. Eat food? Livestock, agriculture et. al kills the planet. I could go on, but the point is: humans=destruction. So unless you think suicide is an option we all have to work within the system to convince the bastards at the top to change things.
