the president gave them rewards for making the world cup, but said if they lost to brazil by 4 or more he would take them away and put them in poverty. By this time it was 3-0 so the player worried. I red it somewhere

I was a Nigerian student in England watching this when this happened. I grew up with this funny idea that if the opposing team delayed in playing a free kick after the whistle had been blown, the other team were allowed to go and kick the ball...
When this happened, I realized for the first time that (a) this was not true, and (b) the misconception was not limited to Nigerian soccer alone.
I hope this throws light on Ilunga's behavior.
