Clicker Training - Rock Solid Leave it

Isabelle and Bandit already know the leave it command, but it was raining out and I did not have anything better to do with our time. Clicker training a rock solid leave it cue command.

hey we have two red nose pits. they are not at all like the stero type people think them to be we have two ten year old girls and have people with small children come over some times never had a proble, anyways mine, his name is jaco is pretty relaxed but my wifes is still pretty young and is very hiper active her name is zoey. when training my dog do i need to seperate them and train then one at a time or would it be best to train them at the same time if that is even posible

@juztanobody I personally train new behaviors separate and then once the dogs know the behaviors and are solid in many environments, I will work with them together. However, there are always things that I need to train one dog at a time for. Agility & Canine Freestyle, I need to work with one dog at a time. It really is easier for them to learn that way. Especially if they might resource guard food or the toy that they are being rewarded with. Set them up for success & train separate. :)

not really a leave it command. The dog is holding a stay that is all. The stay is good but why you are saying it is a leave it command I am not sure. You dog most likely will not be in a stay when you drop somthing on the fool that they should not have. That is when a leave it comes into play

@maxroc80 I can see how you would think that, but they were not in a stay. The one if you watched the video all the way through, the husky mix did leave food that I dropped on the "floor". My BC LOVES toys so dropping of food is not a big deal, but dropping of toys, is much harder for him. When you think about it a leave it could mean leave the toy, bush, dog, pill, chocolate, food, etc... The word leave it just means the dog should not take it. That is all. Have a nice day! Thanks!

Do you have any specific questions? First start with a solid leave it, with food, toy, etc. in your hand, then on the ground, then throwing it, and then increase the difficulty. I transfer it to leaving the dog, bushes, gophers, and anything they may want. However, I usually give them something really good to make up for it. However, not much is better than gophers for Isabelle unless she is hungry. :)
