This is a small tutorial about a very basic technique to get rid of the white lines on paper models.

The voice is a computer voice, if you're having trouble understanding it, you can download the script I used from my weblog: http://ninjatoes.blogspot.com/2008/11/edge-coloring-tutorial.html

  • hey ninjatoes =0, what's the best type of paper to use for papercraft (that's also easy and cheap to buy).

    I tried searching for 135kg Kent or A4 paper, but wasn't able to find any in the area around me

  • Don't go hunting for that 1 specific type of paper only to find you can't find it, since there isn't really a "best paper" for papercraft anyway. ;o)

    Everybody uses what suits them best, and what they can easily find.

    I use 200 gsm paper myself, that's about 110 lbs paper in the US (I'm unfamiliar with the "135kg Kent paper" you're describing, sorry...)

    200 gsm paper is about 2x as thick as regular paper, but people also often use 120-160 gsm paper (1.5x - 2x as thick as regular paper).

  • Haha, I did this while building your ZaL, and It turned out to be my best looking papercraft by far.

    My friend asked me to make it for him and I took pics before giving it away, but the pics were horrible!! D:

    I'll get better pictures, but that'll take a while ^^;

  • Although I usually don't edge colour my models myself, it does look really well on extra special models! ;o)

    I hope you friend liked your gift! If you want, I can add the pictures to the hall of fame on my website once you made some better ones. ;o)

  • THANKS SO MUCH!!! :D :D Rt

  • Haha no prob, I hope you found it useful! ;o)

  • Oh he loved it xD

    This is Char, btw. lol

  • You should be able to buy an X-Acto knife (or any other crafts knife) and rubber cutting mat from basically any department store that has a hobby/crafts section. Ask the people that work there if they sell it. If they don't sell X-Acto knives, those break-away blades can do the job as well.

    There are many places that sell the basic tools you need for papercraft (knives and cutting mats are often right next to the glue) but if all else fails, try a specialized hobby/crafts store.

  • i'am 16 years old. I was wondering, can I buy the x-acto knife and the cutting mat. also can you tell me where can i buy it
