And even then, I still personally think the world would benifit from a mass population drop... like a genocide, or letting all of the angsty teens an hero.

That's not actually true. The Earths population will increase to about 10 billion around 2050 and then level off. The population is increasing for now, but birthrates per capita are dropping precipitously. Sometime before 2100, the worldwide average birthrate will fall below a replacement rate.

This isn't even controversial. This is a mathematical fact. The data used to arrive at this conclusion is pretty solid too. Check it out for yourself.
