Hmm, not really, like everything built for universal expositions, the Tour Eiffel was a technologic demonstration, so were the atomium in Bruxelles and crystal palace in england.
But I'm really happy they decided not to destroy it after the end of the universal exposition.

I traveled backpacking around 14 cities of Europe, but made sure I left Paris for last.
I wasnt dissapointed. I loved Prague, but Paris stole my heart.

i have just got back from a weekend trip there and i would have loved to see it lit up but i had to go to my hotel and prepare for disneyland the next day

And yet, in this and the Arch de Triomphe, only the French could build something so lacking in function! (Okay so there's a radio mast but that was added decades later)
