Took the old girl to the track to play around. . Pay no attention to the popping and cracking of the motor at about 4000 rpms. The motor let go. Won an award at the carshow there and had to be pulled around by my buddy in a golf cart. One of the screws on the rotor cap came out and locked up the distributer. Tore the teeth off my composite distributer gear. Quick fix-all better now. Car launched great and that would have been a 10 sec. run

  • So,did the motor let go or was it only the distributor.Big difference between the two scenarios.Tell us about the drivetrain combo.Sounds like you run 10's.No chute required?

  • It was only the distributor. One of the 2 rotor screws came out and wedged between rotor an cap. That locked up the dist. and tore the teeth off my composite gear. Instantly lost fire and oil pressure. I have a full race 400 turbo, over size sprag and drum, extra disk clutch pack,, 3500 stall. Spring of this year, put a complete Mosier 12 bolt rear in with the disk brake conversion for the rear. Also has a Gear Vendors O/D unit. If you run quicker than 10.99 you need a roll bar. Runs 10.8 s

  • Love those double-wide pontiac taillights, about all another driver will see of her ;)

  • very radical pontiac.

  • @565rat Love it.A friend use to have a 74 Sprint,3-sp/standard purchased with no engine/tranny.Installed a 455 from a 70 Boneville & 4 speed.I found the shaker, hood,Ralley guages & console @ the salvage yard for $125 on his b-day.He was shocked when I pulled into his driveway with the hood roped onto my roof.Very quick and I couldn't believe how well it handled even with the BB.Put it together for only $1,500 total investment. So,tell me about the engine in your Pontiac.
