A four stroke will not run backwards like that!
It can start backwards sometimes if there's a little fuel standing in the exhaust...but as soon as that fuel is spent, it will stall.
Remember, a 4 stroke has valves, so when running in the other direction, it will suck in air through the exhaust, and blow out exhaust gasses through the carb...

Nope. engine runs in the wrong directio, you can tell from the smoke. it is supposed to turn counterclock wise

which would u recomend for a ultras stick 1.20 lite?

nice start technique !! how much fuel did you put through before you felt it was 'run in' I have a new 180 in a YAK and am thinking of doing all pre run in on the bench, thanks

Any numb nuts can see what direction the prop is spinning by the exhaust smoke.
Nice motor... What size prop?

I was running with a Zinger 18x6x10 prop using 15% nitro, I can't give you any rpm's, I just haven't gotten around to purchasing a tach.

you have a saito 180 and a 182 twin right?

Hey,
Yes I do own both engines, the 182 twin powers my 1/5 scale biplane, and the 180 powers my 1/5 scale Cessna 182 Skylane. Thanks for asking.

that is the same way i start all of my 4-strokes, just goose em up good and then bounce them off compression.
cool Vid :)

Thanks for the comment! Know if I can just figure out how to start my 182 the same way I'd be happy, but for some reason it seems to like my fingers to much.
