  • BTW just a quick suggestion. There is plenty of information out there about changing LCD density, xda has several things on it. But I thought I would share a quick and easy way to do it.

    use rootExplorer and mount "/system".

press and hold build.prop and select "edit in text editor".

go down to the line "lcd.density=161"

Default is 161, the higher the number the bigger

(for car use I personally like 191)

    hit menu, then save. Reboot.

I currently have a 2000 ford taurus SEL that has climate control and until recently there was not kit that allowed for aftermarket stereo installation. There is now a kit that allows me to do just that and keep my climate control. My problem is that the audio in this kit is meant to plug into an aftermarket stereo and not a tablet or car pc. I currently run my audio through my amp via my cd changer source that is now an auxillary connection. Any advice? Your set up is pimpn.

  • @positivedownside1 You are in a pickle for sure. If I remember correctly, you factory stereo has a amp/tuner on the left side of the trunk. You will have to rewire that first if you haven't already. You also need a preamp (like my audiocontrol). If were me I'd do a 3sixty.1 from Rockford.

  • I'm going to do a even more custom install using this video

  • nice...very nice. I`m interested how yuo switch it on and off..

    tnx

  • Mini-Box.com I think it is.. maybe. Net, they have a USB programmable power supply on there that will perfectly answer your power supply problems. Auto power on/wake trip, charging, and sleep/stop charging based on the ignition switch status. Should work perfectly.

  • you are correct. My buddy installed a pioneer premiere amp for me and I turned my cd changer function into an aux so that could plug my smartphone up via a 3.5 jack. Before seeing your set up and that Metra kit, I was seriously considering just having my 7 inch custom installed where ac vents are.

  • @schnap81 Power and charging was the whole problem and thus why I pulled it out. I haven't really found a good way of charging the nook yet. The way I wired it in the video didn't work. The nook was consuming more during use than the charging circuit could keep up with. I was always behind. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough room on the side to use the OEM nook charger and resorted to a generic micro usb right angle adapter. Didn't work.

  • @prittsaudio Which USB hub did you use for your install? I was initially looking for a DC powered hub that could exceed 500 mA output for other peripheral devices using USB host. Looks like you wired a 12v cigarette socket with a USB adapter, then USB A M/M to the hub for power on ignition. I haven't seen a decent hub that powers via USB connection, usually only from AC adapter. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Man, I was all set to install a car pc in my ride. As a matter of fact, my girl bought me the leno ideacentre Q150 that looks a like a cd player and she bought me a 7 inch screen. Unfortunately the computer comes with window 7 and I was planning on buying centrafuse to use as my front end. Since seeing your video, I'm seriously considering going with the Acer Iconia A100 7 inch screen running Honeycomb. My problem is tying it into my clarion eq and my amp.

  • not bad at all, nice, but that gay ass music has got to go
