My advice to the men is to not spill your guts to the girl at all. You already know the outcome, and very rarely do these last-ditch efforts produce anything positive.
I have to disagree with Arden on this because the reason why guys "spill the guts" is not to keep feelings unbottled, but because of this hope that the girl would suddenly "open her eyes". Hope is a dangerous thing - one huge reason why the guy is in the 'zone in the first place.

Friendzoning is a two-person effort - the guy, who is too nice, too available, too unchallenging, and the girl, who wants to be second-guessing herself, wonders what the guy is doing, and desires a challenge.
Beyond all that, attraction is the catalyst to any relationship, even for the slow-moving ones, and without it, you're in the friendzone for good - regardless of how much you try to play the game.
