In October of 2008, ten years following the killing of Matthew Shepard, members of Tectonic Theater Project returned to Laramie to interview again the people who participated in the original Laramie Project, for the purpose of writing a new play, as an Epilogue. This video, edited by Brian Kates, is a short sampling of some of their responses. The full Epilogue will be performed live, on October 12, in 100 theaters on the same night.

  • i'm doing this at my high school drama class

  • I am so proud of how far the people of Laramie have come...and proud too of the many thoughtful and supportive comments I read here. Your death has not been in vain Matt!

  • I am so grateful to be a part of a production of this show.

  • Tonight, for my acting class we're doing this project, my first play ive been in, wish me luck!

  • Studying the original Laramie project, and currently writing a small paper to it, I truly think this is a fantastic play, and docudrama. The fact that we were able to experience what people thought and the multiple perspectives that were portrayed really made me think, how could someone do this, HOW and WHY could people just hate this much? The play may not have moved me on the outside, the inside was somewhat broken. If this play can do this to me, then I have learned something. Thank you.

  • I am a 15 year old english secondry school student and i am currently 2 weeks away from performing the laramie project. I has been such an honour to do something of this magnitude and we have had people such as ian McKellen give their best wishes to our group! This is such an overwhelmingly emotional story that must not go un-heard of. Thanks to the tectonic theatre company for producing somthing that i know will stay in peoples memories for a very long time.

  • I leave for the Harvard Debate Tournement in the morning...

I'm doing The Laramie project for my Dramatic Interpretation in Debate this year. I play Jed Schultz, Sherry Johnson, Andy Paris, Rev. Fred Phelps, and the Judge....I can't even begin to tell you what kind of connection I have with this piece...or the effect it's had on me. All I can really say is thanks. Thank you to the interviewers, thank you to the people....thank you, Matthew. You inspire me every day.

  • I just got 6 roles on the play! :D And I got the role of Jedadiah Schultz! I'm so excited haha.
