I raised a mean and selfish son, almost killed me because I am small kind selfless and worked 2-3 jobs all my life getting Him raised and lazy and spoiled and successful now He despises me? I had a mean and selfish dad...same thing. I think it goes in cycles. My grandchildren will be kind and selfless giving and loving, life is very tough very tough at best! God Bless..He is the Good in everything!

the line used at 5:40 is one that gets used all the time. It's a method of persuasion known as "Sugarcoating the situation" it can also be defined as a method of brainwashing b/c it leads the mother to believe that this is the final answer to her so-called problem. this sugarcoating method is also used on women who have been forced into getting sterilized such as myself. we later realize that we have been robbed of our natrual ability to concieve and have kids and this haunts us for a long time.

Sometimes I think it might be efficient to have a cultural value that kills you for being an asshole. But then again, people have different definitions of what an asshole is unfortunately. Either that or have a cultural value that says that your existence is systematically ignored if you're a jerk to the point where people can walk right into you as if you're nothing more than air itself. I almost wish i could force people to be in-selfish, but then again, I myself hate being forced to do things
