  • i found people kept telling me I need to have my head last but it happened naturally without thinking about it......maybe its just me.......

  • If you want your head to get out at last you should try to look your paddle when you are rolling.

  • yo i watch his vids like twenty times a day, he is amazing isnt he. comment is only a year late lol but oh well

  • yh, i know some one that does the same thing, his roll is a high brace in which his head gets really wet but it workd for him so long as he doesnt go in he opposite side he comes up lol!

  • It looks like he is trying something between a c-c and a sweep roll. He is sweeping the paddle very far towards the stern and then trying to snap up. If you pick one roll over the other, things should work a little smoother.

  • your nt dsoing it completely right, lots of key elements of this roll are missing. Dont move your arms to the side/back twist your hips, dont dive your paddle use the surface tension of the water and be sure to bring your head up last. Finally you seem to be on edge and worried, dont be just relax and it should come naturally!

  • That is more of a high brace

  • i like those boats but they are so hard to use

  • The head up is a symptom of another problem. What is happening here is that he is diving his paddle down too early, rather than sweeping out (if this is a sweep roll.) To fix this, relax the hands on the paddle, focus on sweeping outward with the paddle as you hip snap, rather than diving down. In that video, after the paddle dives, the last minute panic reaction is to put your head up, but it makes no difference by then. Try a video called "The Kayak Roll." It really helped me.

  • You are probably rolling like a champ now! The comments below definitely correct, don't be concerned about getting your head up, you can hold your breathe for about 1:30 before you start having to think about pulling the deck. Most rolls are done in under 10sec. Take a look at speusa and his C to C roll stuff and compare your action.

I would also recommend to try screw rolling to practice to get a smoother motion going. Beyond that it is practice and more practice. Need to do it with eyes closed
