i grew up in Union baptist Church. My family has been going to that church for generations. I honestly don't think that alot of the younger folks who go to that church would allow a bunch of gays to come in, disgrace the place and act a fool and get away with it. well that and sometimes downtown is like a shooting alley.
@sakonhagakure buddy we don't live in your country - it just seem from here in UK somewhat strange that people vote on on stuff like this - if you must vote then only athiests should vote on athiest issues & gays on gay ones otherwise minorities don't get a look in - why was that church spending $1.5 million to promote H8 and "The family" working to demean my family?
You missed the point in what I was saying. I totally agree with you. Which is why I think that the state government should have no say so as far as marriage goes. If 2 people want to get married they shouldn't be forced to go to the state to apply for a license nor should they have to pay the state any money in order to do so. You don't pay the state for any other private contract do you? Why should marriage be any different?
Non profit organizations get government grants all the time. Why should this church located on Creyts rd in Delta Township (free plug for the church here) get taxed when some non secular non profit doesn't? Besides churches live off the tithes from the congregation. without it they go belly up. Besides I've been to the church in question. They're what I'd call gay apathetic. It's not like they were out there constantly preaching hate towards gay people.
@sakonhagakure Whats all this back yard / uncle morty stuff - why do you feel the need to demean their marriage? The government make, enforce & grant the legal and moneys that go with marriage how can they not be involved - buddy its just love - st8 gay or athiest we all should be treated equal
If all you want is a civil partnership where you can live with someone else then why do you need the governments blessing to do so? If you really want to have the ceremony have it in your backyard and have uncle Morty or whoever perform it for you. Do whatever you want I don't care It's not my personal business who gays or atheist people marry. All I'm saying is the best solution is the government should stay out of the personal affairs of private citizens.
@sakonhagakure I think your missing the point - the church in question recieves tax relief then used there funds to promote a policy that discriminates - we are not suprised the gays were outraged they have effectivly payed in their taxes to subsidise a body that are activly engaged in a political bill to discriminate against them
@sakonhagakure Its clear from your Burger King comment your not a fan of athiests & gays getting equality on this - Marriage is not owened by religions - if your in any doubt ask yourself where people have to go to get a devorce? Religious marriage is the domain of the various religions - Civil marriage & the legal & finantial benifits are exclusivly the domain of the state
@sakonhagakure Thanks for explaning. I wasn't entirely sure which direction your comment was going.

@sakonhagakure I don't know if that is racist or just a comment on how bad the downtown area is.
