pendulumx: As the camera's fixed to cycle you can't see the cyclist's head movements nor can you see hand signals. You don't have enough info to support your conclusions. What's clear is the driver's in a hurry to get thru the lights on a wet road in the vicinity of a cyclist and a pedestrian crossing at a junction. A very bad mix but only the [driver in a hurry] is a problem. The driver should stay back & wait to find out where the cyclist is going, overtaking after the junction when safe.

Just curious, did this behaviour get reported to the police? Dangerous, sloppy, pointless move (the driving, not the reporting)
A 2nd question, do your brakes replace the need for a bell or horn, sort of dual utility? A quick squeeze on the brake lever, louder than any bicycle bell ;-)

@Lav1lle I think you need mummy to smack your arse. Grow up. Cyclists are legally entitled to a primary road postion on the road where needs must. It is even endorsed by Government approved cycle training such as Bikeability and National Standards.

have you learned your lesson by this experience ???
DON'T DRIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD !!!! PRICK !!
-
You are a fool to stand by your original point, because your original point is wrong. I have told you what the HC actually says, and you have even agreed with me.
-
The vehicle in front has priority where space and time allow. Yes it does say the last 33 word of your post but I stand by my point. I have read the highway code several times, first in 86 for a school project, then twice in the 90s and then recently in 2008 when it changed.
Although I dont have to justify that to you. Only to a court/policeman if needs must. ;-P Drive safe it must be hard to see the traffic on your high horse ;-P

"As you'll find from reading the highway code a vehicle infront has priority to the vehicle behind" - What a load of absolute tosh.
By that logic, a car in lane one of a motorway can change to lane 2 at any time, and the traffic in lane 2 has to yield. Rubbish of course.
You've obviously never been near the Highway Code. What it actually says is that when changing lanes, you must check first that there is nothing approaching in that lane which you will cause to slow down or change direction.

As you'll find from reading the highway code a vehicle infront has priority to the vehicle behind. If you were to take your conclusion, Pendulumx, then before any lane change (by any roaduser) would result in said lanechanger having to wait until all those behind have dissappeared. If there is space to move there is nothing legally to stop you and traffic behind has a legal right to accomodate.

Their are so many bad driver, who not should have a driving license in their hand, many dumb sicks on our roads !

pendulum, the cyclist has the right of way.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
You actually changed lanes in to him, you were left and you switched to the righthand lane. You need to work on your lane discipline, blindspot checks. If he did run the red light, it was by milliseconds, and unrelated with your near miss.

The camera is fixed to the bike, so does not reflect where my vision is. I carried out my observations, signalled, right shoulder lifesaver and moved my bike according to the lane markings on the road. The driver accelerated past me AFTER I had moved.
There is nothing in that clip that was my fault, and that is backed up by the Police.
A yellow light also means stop, and it was yellow before he overtook me. There was no following traffic, thus impossible for him to claim he did it for safety.

I've reviewed the clip again but have come to the same conclusion. Between 00:37 and 00:38 you make a transition from the left to the righthand lane. A mere second afterwards, at 00:39, the van is seen overtaking you. By changing lanes, you clearly cut the van driver up and he is forced in to a tight spot.

I actually start moving right at 00:33, and signalled prior to that. The driver accelerated to try and beat me into the lane which only becomes a lane at 00:37.
I wish I had a small enough camera to attach to my head, as it would show the situation more clearly, as you would see the van behind when I turn my head to look.
The rapid movement into the lane at 00:37 is my tyres slipping slightly on a tyre trench in the tarmac.

Are the police helpful where you live? Here they seem indifferent or downright hostile to bike riders.

Yes and no, by which I mean no, not at all.
