Can anybody tell me what this is?
It hovers like a hummingbird, looks like a butterfly but seems to be a moth!
I encountered it in the mountains @ Breckenridge.

  • Wow that is a big moth, are they typical in Colorado?

  • Turns out they are.

    Who'd thought?

    First time I've seen one.

  • It's a While-lined sphinx moth, one of a number of so-called 'hummingbird moths' which are commonly mistaken for hummers. Great closeup video!

  • Thank you thank you!
