In the Name of Mariachi Music!

Documents the astonishing journey by which celebrated intellectuals, academics, musicians have promoted and spread the joy for mariachi music in classrooms throughout the United States, especially in San Diego where the first-ever college degree worldwide in mariachi music is now being offered.

These efforts are significant not only because of their accomplishments amongst different segments of society in the US- but because many of the main characters in this movement are individuals of Anglo descent. Due to their passion and fascination for mariachi music, these individuals were inspired to analyze, exalt and elevate this musical genre to a level that, to the amazement of many, Mexico has not yet done.

In the Name of Mariachi Music! features also a fascinating journey through the past, present and future of mariachi music from the perspective of those who where born into it and lived it in Mexico , those who have researched it in Mexico and the US, and those who regardless of their origin, language, gender, age or geographic location, have devoted their lives to this musical genre.

What has brought all of these individuals together regardless of their cultural or linguistic differences is their immense love for mariachi music.
