Gordon Terry performs his hit song 'It Ain't Right' live, backed by the great Billy Mize and the equally talented Cliff Crofford. Another clip documenting the birth of authentic rockabilly.
That is a sharp RIckenbacker guitar that Gordon Terry is playing. Terry, Rick Nelson, and Jim Reeves played Rickenbackers at one time (Nelson's and Reeves' were acoustics), but it wasn't until 1964 when the Rickenbacker took off courtesy of John Lennon, and later, George Harrison with his 12-string and Paul McCartney with the bass.
Hey "Jack Grider" - thanks for that post, man. Naw, slim chance we'll get down ta Arkansaw, but we should cause Pocahontas native, the late Billy Riley, was a big fan of ours and endorsed us boys (Starline). Came back on this vid cause Slappin' Billy B of our band is thinkin' we outta learn it & add to our play list - I AGREE! I mean how many bands have a Gordon Terry tune in their rep?
@starboydc Danny! Love y'all man! do you ever get down to Arkansas? I'm in Little Rock and my girl and I would love to see the Starline Rhythm Boys live!
@mterrycochran i am so glad i found these videos i am from decatur and i took care of your grandmother Stella Terry at Summerford for a year. She was a pleasure to take care of and may God bless you and your wonderful family!
@mterrycochran Mitzi - My name is Danny Coane of The Starline Rhythm Boys up in VT. I tried commenting here, but it didn't take. What I was trying to put in was that your dad was one of the most underrated country stars-an incredible fiddler (with Monroe & other country star) and a fine guitar man, plus great looking and a beautiful bariton voice. I wish the A&R guys had pitched him better material for his solo career-if they had he would have been a big star, but I love him for what he did
@mterrycochran Your father was an amazing man. He also played a song with George Jones on Grand Ole Opry called White Lightning using Luther Perkins' guitar.
Gordon is some relative waaaaay down the line. Both my Momma's people were Terrys. My mom is from Cortland Alabama and she always talked about how very talented Gordon was. Blessing to you Mitzi!!
