Short clip of the USCGC Glacier in 1969 to 1970 in Cape Horn. The seas were probably about 15 to 20 feet, pretty calm for Cape Horn. The ship was 310 foot long, 8,600 tons and the video was shot with an 8 mm film camera in 1969. The position of the camera was from the enclosed crow's nest of the ship, approx. mid ships, and 75 feet ? above the water line. Check out the other videos of the glacier and give me an email or comment, especially if you were on the ship from 1969-1971. We went down to about the 77th south latitude in the weddell sea and got stuck in 35 feet of ice. Many of us aboard the Glacier were square knot sailors
