The Course
Although Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consists of more than 600 techniques, studies of the fights conducted by members of the Gracie Family show that 36 techniques have been used more often, and with greater success, than all the other techniques combined. Originally developed for the U.S. Army, Gracie Combatives is the only course that is entirely dedicated to the mastery of these 36 essential techniques. Until recently, this course was taught exclusively at a small network of Gracie Academy certified training centers, but now, the complete Gracie Combatives course is available on DVD and can be learned from the comfort of your own home!

The Objective
What makes the Gracie Combatives collection so unique is that it is the only instructional DVD series ever produced with the sole objective of taking the viewer - regardless of their age, gender or athletic ability - from no knowledge to street ready without ever stepping foot into a school of martial arts. On the 13th DVD of the collection, you will find a complete demonstration of the Blue Belt Qualification Test that one must pass to qualify for promotion (this is the exact same test that students take for promotion at the Gracie Academy). Once you become extremely proficient in the execution of the five Blue Belt Qualification Drills (BBQDs), you are invited to test for promotion at any Certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Training Center. Ladies and gentlemen, I've seen many, many instructional BJJ videos over the last 15 years or so.....and NOTHING holds a candle to what Ryron and Rener have accomplished with Gracie Combatives. I don't think I've seen anything that comes so close to having an actual GJJ private lesson with a skilled black belt.

Something about these guys I don't quite trust. Rorion and Kids are very market savvy, kinda like the Informercial King Tony Robbins. Gracie Combatives/University/Bully Proof.Women Empowered etc. My feeling is just teach Jiu-Jitsu instead of Take combatives x number of times online and earn a Blue Belt and a gumball! What did the do in the old days in Torrance, what was the curriculum like then...

@MikkoTV are you referring to the Ralph Gracie school, run by Kurt Osiander, Carley Gracie's school, or Charles Gracie's school? I trained with Kurt when he was a blue-purple belt, and he was/is very good. Never trained at Carley's in S.F., but met him a couple of times, and never trained with Charles. There is also the Ceasar Gracie school out in Plesant Hill as well. Best of luck and you'll LOVE it! :-)
