Nice piece of flowery psych with the pre-Yes man, Chris Squire, from 1967. Kool in the kaftan.

  • I just saw The Syn live at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia. They mostly played newer songs, but they slipped in a few oldies from the sixties, including this one.

It was a great show. The singer prefaced each song with a little story about it. For this one, he said that one night they opened for Jimi Hendrix the first time he played at the Marquee Club in London, and when they took the stage, all four Beatles were seated in the front row. Pretty neat stuff.

  • @jimmytheferret love this response, totally shows up the arsewipe trying to take a swipe at you for giving this quality music to the masses who never had a chance to tune in before. FWIW i am a vinyl dj playing 60's rnb, ska and soul who regularly plays records worth £100+ however, the point is that these are objects not animals and, bringing pleasure to others is more important to me than preserving them. i can leave that up to others...

from 1:48 and 1:53? Yes - very snappy, reminding me of Mitch Mitchell's bounty of jazzy fills.

  • @mrJimCharles Yes, yes, I understand what you mean. : ) I wonder if any meaning, in such lines, are not to be derived at.

  • @Khultan I think this guy likes to use a lot of rhymes delivered in like a certain cadence just for the sound of it, I like that myself, it sounds cool.

  • @summertimeblues49 I've always felt that this drummer was better than Keith Moon + he had an infectious groove later in his career. Unfortunately he died of AIDS some 10 years ago. Someone told me he was only 16 when this was recorded!

  • @summertimeblues49 I've always felt that this drummer was way better than Keith Moon! Just my tupence.

  • So what's LSD like nowadays? Probably as powerful as an aspirin.

  • @RebelVoDKa The singer advises: 'Shoot yourself, root yourself....' I like writing lyrics myself and am the type that likes to try to decipher what's being said and so the meaning of what this guy is saying is lost to me. I KNOW that you can 'shoot' yourself meaning to inject yourself with drugs and this is sometime in the mid to late 60s pyschedelic dalliances with it's LSD infatuation and hash and speed. But these guys aren't shamans or gurus, just filler lines, I think.

  • Root yourself???

  • @rearly62 : ) Well said.

  • 'Shoot yourself?!?'
