*****READ PLEASE! ******

In Reign Over Me Adam Sandler shows that he is great at dramatic roles, as well as comedy. He's absolutely amazing in this movie. This video consists of only 2 scenes, but imo, they show how brilliant his performance was. I purposely moved his monologue after the court scene because I feel it's not only the breakthrough moment for his character in the movie, but because of the raw emotion he shows and it would be hard to follow.

Adam plays Charlie Fineman, a man who lost his wife and 3 daughters in 9/11. Ever since, he's been avoiding everyone and everything that reminds him of his family and his life with them. He has no friends and his life consists of playing video games and listening to music. He then runs into Don Cheadle's character Alan Johnson, who was Charlie's college roommate. Alan, through friendship and patience, helps Charlie to see that he needs help getting through his tragic loss.

This has become one of my favorite movies and Adam Sandler was brilliant. He deserved at least some kind of nomination for this. He should do more dramatic roles, because he certainly has the talent. Everyone should see this movie if you haven't already. It's definitely one that I recommend.

I'm thinking of doing a video tribute to Adam's character, but I'm having trouble coming up with a song choice. If anyone has any ideas feel free to comment or message me.

Comments are welcome. :D

Enjoy.

  • i've got to admit i am not a fan of adam sandler, however i think this is his most noteable performance to date and certainly worth recognition!

  • @jdncoke2 I've got to admit, I'm not a fan of his comedy much anymore either, but when he does drama, especially this, he catches my attention. I've always heard that comedians were great in dramas, because comedy is so much harder to achieve. I'm starting to believe that. Thanks for your comment! :)

  • monologue b b4 court room

  • @BTxLiVeR I know, but the audio turned out to be horribly out of sync. Once I switched the clips, it worked fine. I have no idea why. Lol.

  • god.. what is it with people who cant see when someone is hurting so bad that they visable cant function.... freakin hate it when they feel like they are the victims and the person in true pain is just a heartless bastard in their own eyes.. (sigh)..

  • @wolverinex2000 I know what you mean. It's pathetic.
